Vermin Racing Team has had nearly a two year break from racing, things became very hectic and the team was put on unofficial hiatus. Well I (Tippet) have been looking into returning and bringing the team back to what the original vision was.
When I set up Vermin Racing the goal was to have a small virtual racing team which would get sim racers involved with the competitive side of online sim racing. After running C.O.G.S. league races which took too much away from organizing the team, I decided to step back and concentrate on other things (mainly artwork which will always be a priority over any sim/real racing I do), but I have really come to miss the challenge and fun of racing against excellent racers both in C.O.G.S. and also as part of the Radiator Springs championship.
I have to thank all the excellent racers who raced for Vermin Racing, I still consider them to be part of the team even after they have left or moved on since things closed down, so I will be looking to re-recruit old drivers or new ones depending on the direction the team takes.
Coming back won't be easy and I am looking at stepping away from Netkar and possibly looking at some other sims. Assetto Corsa looks promising, however I would like to see more open wheel series in the game before I personally commit to it, having done some testing about 5 months ago, the physics felt nice, it should be though considering it is the semi-sequel to Netkar. Netkar Pro is now priced so low it's unbelievable, even though Netkar is now quite old I still feel it is one of the best open wheel simulators out there, so sticking with Netkar could be an option. But the more popular online sim titles I have looked at, would need major backing/sponsorship to compete and it is very hard/almost impossible to find sponsorship outside of my own Vermin Art brand. Any suggestions on sims would be great.
In an ideal world I would be able to find a company willing to help cover costs (as most of the sim leagues are run now by subscription and it would be nice to make some money out of doing something fun as well as promoting a product). I would like to cover lots of sims, ranging from karting sims to F1/sports cars and have people work their way through, but we are talking about ideal worlds, so it is unlikely that VRT will ever be a multi sim spanning team, but that will always be another goal of mine.
I think I have probably rambled on enough, I will be looking to re-launch the team soon and try and work out how to structure things properly. I will not be able to manage everything from day to day so I think I will need to look for someone equally passionate and willing to volunteer time to help run things, and hopefully the team will grow.
